Snow Characteristics Comments
North facing snow held really nice but the snow on the eastern and southern half of the compass was definitely not as fun. It rode well, but was fairly shallow (3") of powder on top of a nice sun crust.

Red Flags Comments
We had 3 distinct collapses in the snow pack today in 3 completely different areas and aspects. I'm not convinced that things are safe yet. The Thanksgiving snow is still trying to bond with the crappy old Halloween snow. It's getting better slowly, but I won't be dropping any big lines for a bit.

Comments
The boss and I made a few laps today in the Franklin Basin area. We found decent coverage in mid and upper elevations, but we were definitely tip-toeing around on the sleds. There are still so many sketchy hidden rocks and logs everywhere. We were glad we made it back home with no broken body parts, splitboard parts, or snowmo parts.
We dug a couple of pits on a northeast facing slope at about 9000 ft. The snow ranged from 36-40" deep and was bonded really well, except for the bottom 12" which was still pretty sugary and rotten. Several compression tests were performed with failures at CT18 and CT20 for Eric and I had failures of CT28 and CT26. Extended column tests resulted in ECTP28 for Eric and i couldn't get a failure in mine with some pretty heavy handed taps. We both came to the conclusion that the bottom crap layer is starting to heal, but still needs a little time before we're willing to get too sporty.
