Tour 9-2pm 10,700-9,400 mostly ne.
Beautiful day, love low danger fun snow.
There is a warm storm moving in with 1" water and some S.E.wind in the forcast so thought I'd comment on state of our surface snow.
There was excellent riding/snow above 9600' N-NE
Hard freeze last night. No snow transport observed or suspected higher during tour. barley any wind in am (SW 5mph on ridge), picking up slightly.
The Clouds thickened at 2pm. Not too warm above 9000 today.
Snow surface
Above 9800' -Loose snow. There was much less heat crust and pie of good snow was wider. The snow was dryer and looser.
There appeared to me to be some very small pockets of hoar along ridge.
Surface Faceting 1"-2", very small sluffs where steeper than 36°
Below 9900-
The snow became creamy and not as loose as higher.
Below 9500-
The riding deteriorating with more heat crust and denser. Guessing warmer yesterday moistened up snow.
Did see good bonding on heat crust except where crust was thinner (cardboard).
Dry snow to parking lot.
Guessing wind slabs on today's loose snow above 9500 NNW-NE will be a good thing to keep an eye on for the storm
