Weather Comments
The first precipitation of the day was at 09:40 at about 6000', but that light rain only lasted a few minutes. It started snowing S-1 around 6800' at 10:30, and steady S1 by noon above 7000'. On our descent around 1:30, we felt a distinct transition from mostly dry feeling snow to very wet snow right at the top of indicator hill at 7200', but truly dropped below the rain line right at 6600', and we skied in a light to moderate rain all the way to the car. I would have liked a squeegee for my goggles. We had calm wind at low elevation gusting moderate, and moderate wind gusting strong at mid elevations with significant wind transported snow.

Snow Characteristics Comments
All the way up to the weather station, the snow surface was damp where it was previously faceted loose. Ski penetration was never more than 5-10 cms, and the surface snow was easily packed into a snowball. We found some mostly intact surface hoar on indicator hill on the way up, but the edges had all melted down, and the crystals looked quite rounded. Those same crystals were utterly destroyed soon after when the rain picked up.
