Dug a hole in White Pine at 9,000' E today. I haven't gotten out of the central core this season and figured I'd take a look somewhere different after being out of town for a week. Snow was much weaker than I had anticipated in relation to what I have been seeing in Upper LCC (upper Cardiff, Silver, Grizzly areas).
9,000' E, HS 120-140cm, CTE2 Brk down 7cm on buried PPgp.
CTM15 & CTM19 SC ECTP14 down 115cm on 2-3mm facets (mostly rounding but some still very angular). It seems as though the FC on the ground have gained some strength in relation to the FC at the interface of the test results. I suspect the FC at the interface is the decomposed crust.
Mid-pack weakness noted down 35cm on 1mm FCsf (buried on 12/12 storm?) CTH22 SP (ECT column was compromised before testing this layer).
This may be representative of the mid-elevation structure outside of the deepest pack in the Central Core, it may be an unusually weak outlier. I would like to gather more data from similar areas.
