Comments
Walked up to Ivory Flakes from the BCC side again to avoid the steep north facing terrain in the entries from LCC. One again collapsing and cracking were the norm. We experienced one very large tree shaking collapse just below the upper rock bands on our third trip up the skin trail, telling me that collapsed might be getting harder to get but when you get them they are now bigger and somewhat nerve racking, it’s also telling me that the snow pack has not adjusted to the new load and the weight of a person is enough to tip the scales. The only activity noted was sluffing of the new snow in steeper terrain but at this point in time that’s not making me feel better about stability. When we were leaving around 2:00 pm it was snowing and graupeling hard and adding weight to the snow pack rapidly.
Photos: cracking and collapsing, graupel, and a really good phot my buddy sent me from the South Monitor slide.
