Snow Characteristics Comments

1" may be a stretch but it is what showed on the Big Flat Snotel. Most areas were blown clear of new snow. The trick today was to ski in areas were it had blown in to 3-4" of dense snow. Most surfaces were supportable, this is the main reason travel is possible. The exception being in shady protected areas at and just below treeline. These areas have a HS of 14" of weak faceting snow.

Comments

No snow profile, not enough snow. The two photos below show the SE bowl of Mount Holly over the last two weeks. Photo 1, today. Photo 2, 2 weeks ago. Upper elevation areas have undergone a lo of melting. Photo 3, the alpine.....

Photos below:

1. Ski crampons came in handy today.

2. Looking north from the south summit of Mt. Holly.

3. Looking south from the south summit of Mount Holly to Lake Peak.
