Comments

More of a resort PSA than a backcountry ob.

Remember- the resorts are hustling to get runs open, so there's lots of activity with snowcats, snowmobiles, and snow-making equipment. As such, uphill policy can be changed or restricted at any time. Definitely check in with your local resort if you plan on going for an uphill lap or two.

Another heads up is to keep an eye on what's above you. Shallow slabs peeling off lift enclosures won't bury you, but could clobber you just as easily.

And finally when in Rome... I also check in with patrol or snow safety to see what's going on. In addition to getting some local beta, it's nice to put a name to face. You know it's pretty chill when avy forecasters like Brighton's Chris Stowe are finishing painting projects.
