I found well-developed surface hoar crystals buried under 1.5" of new snow, especially at lower elevations and in sheltered areas.

Lots of big timber uprooted and swept down the path. Among deep, rock-hard piles and hedgerows of dirty, goblin-sized ice balls in the toe of avalanche is a jack-straw'ed pile of 70' trees
