Snow Characteristics Comments

A thin M/F Crust formed on East aspects that had slope angles > 20 degrees. South went off and will be crusty on Sunday. SH was widespread and up to 7 mm size was reported with the majority observed more in the 3 to 4 mm range. Riding on slopes on the upper half of the compass was fast and "glass-like". It was classic SH riding.

Red Flags Comments
Despite being able to get CTM shears in the upper pack, all shears were identified as RP, and stubborn. Graupel Layer that has been tracked over the last week is showing good signs of rounding. On going Weak Surface Snow in the top 10 cm appears to be the only real concern, and we'll have to wait and see what happens to it once we get the next load. At 1200 hours there was a small Wet Loose Avalanche observed on the riders far left side of No Name, and it originated from a falling tree bomb. In other areas on the Southern half of the compass there was widespread Wet Loose activity.

Problem #1 Comments

Widespread Wet Loose Activity on the Southerly aspect appeared to be the number one Avalanche Problem of the day in the area traveled. Hard to say if this first day of Solar Induced activity will be enough for this problem to Decrease during tomorrows daytime heating.

Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Cornice
Problem #2 Comments

Report of the Cornice Triggered Slide in Porter Fork appears to validate concerns with regard to the possibility of this being a current issue/Problem.

For Sunday it appears that the Loose Dry Avalanche Problem needs to be added into the mix. Storm Snow may need to be removed/deleted.

Saturdays forecast appeared to be Moderate; and for Sunday the Danger may be correctly identified as Moderate..
