Went back to Cardiff with intent on skiing some of the bigger lines that were obscured by low lying clouds yesterday. Noted that the S facing snow was starting to heat up around 10:30-11:00am, first noted rolller-balls and point releases on the S walking up too pole line pass, then observed some larger wet activity later on the SE facing part of Cardiac Ridge, nothing major but enough to knock you off your feet in steep and confined terrain. The snow on the E-NE was well behaved with only minor sluffing of the surface snow, boot deep and creamy with a spongy base. There is some surface hoar starting to grow and the surface will most likely continue to weaken with cold clear nights.
Photos: snow surface starting to heat up on the S facing, minor sluffing of the surface snow, surface hoar development, Soft slab on LSB that happened after the storm was over, and the northern end of the large slide in Cardiac, it was bigger than I though when looking at it with bad visibility yesterday.
