I went to xmas slide area, thought id share my follys. Anything in days draw that is steep pretty much slid. I was moonwalking up the skin track up chickenshit ridge. Days draw base is 1-2' where it slid. You cannot see the crown, debris is hard to see to, but the uphill sides of trees are nicely ramped. The avy bed is full of rocks. The snow is well faceted, and once we get a slab on it will prob slide again. If you are not afraid of repeaters, be afraid of the rocks, 1/2 p-tex stick for me. I suspect we r going to have a tale of 2 snowpack s- those that slid Xmas cycle and those that didn't. Thin pack = weak pack. Xmas slide= thin pack. Cold clear nights=facets and moonwalking. Load/slab comming.I don't think we have accounted for all the Xmas slides. If it is steep and northish and above 9000 I think it is a good bet it slid. I am going to conserve my p tex and stay away till we get a thicker pack.
