Came across some slopes that avalanched sometime late last week. These are steep east through north facing slopes with starting zones above 10K. Hard to tell because of the amount on new snow since they released.

Didn't find anything new and different today. ECT didn't propagate a fracture, the whole column just collapsed on the basal facets with 5 "taps" from the shoulder (hard effort).
In a section of my snowpit where the overall depth was shallower the basal facets were very loose and would pour out of the pit wall. Where it was deeper I didn't have that problem. This reflects somewhat the nature of the deep slab instability we have in that the deeper the snowpack the stronger it is and the shallower the weaker it is, but knowing where those thick and thin spots are are a roll of the dice in my opinion. Overall a strengthening snowpack though.
Mostly a moderate danger but considerable in upper elevation steeper terrain on the north half of the compass.
