Snow Characteristics Comments

High N a mixture of breakable crust, wind crust and a little settled dry snow with a zipper crust. E-SE facing damp by the time I got there around 10:30, seems like the refreeze on that aspect was more shallow, you could punch through to the ground if you had your skis off, W aspects were frozen pretty solid until softening around 2:00pm.

Comments

Traveled back to Maybird for the last day of winter in search of corn, seemed like the only aspect with well developed corn was W facing, it also seemed that the W facing aspect had the best drainage plumbing in place and were nicely runneled. Did not note any new wet activity, the cool NW breeze was keeping things in check, and like I said W was slow to soften, Seems like we've lost allot of snow in the past week, especially on S facing aspects. High N skied alright if you waited for the surface crust to soften. Photos, disappearing snow on the S facing, old wet slide on the Maybird, Hogum divide, thin snow pack in Hogum, high N one run ran the gambit starting with soft snow with a zipper crust, wind crust, and finishing with a heat crust at the bottom.
