Comments

Travel today was White Pine Canyon - Up Lake Peak & Lake Shot, to upper White Pine Canyon.

Was interested in seeing if north aspects at upper elevations have undergone warming. Was finding a supportable melt-freeze crust with dry grains underneath in several quick pits above 9800', so overall am feeling upper elevation north aspects have yet to undergo any warming as of yet.

Quick pits on solar aspects were showing good drainage so it seems we have been through our wet cycle for the time being. Unless it snows anytime soon, biggest concern will be waiting for the inevitable warm-up on north aspects

Cold-enough temps overnight provided a 15-20 cm (6-8") supportable surface and we were finding East aspects softening just at noon with good corn conditions. North aspects are a mixed bag of temperature crusts and slick wind skins.

Overall surprised at the relatively decent skiing in this very low tide year.

Photo of quick pit looking at the snow on upper elevation north aspects.

Photos showing a mixture of both very bony conditions in upper White Pine, but also decent coverage in upper Maybird.

Fun traveling today with Erme Catino talking about our excellent observer program supported by Paul Diegel and the UAC forecasters.
