Snow Characteristics Comments

I ran into every type of snow today except corn and rain crusts. The road was frozen all the way up in the morning and slush on the way back. The east face of Mt. Watson was firm up top, a mixed bag of powder and wind slabs mid slope and creamy blown in powder on the lower half. The snow was supportable everywhere except around rocks and trees facing the south half of the compass up high. I saw no evidence of avalanches anywhere. The only evidence of moving snow was sluffs in the typical narrow lines which were now nicely covered up thanks to some wind that dumped cold dry snow on top. I left the mountain around 1:00. Although it was warm, no roller balls had formed on the south face of Mt. Watson.
