Snow Characteristics Comments

South facing slopes have a wicked crust on them by now, but north facing slopes are still soft and offer creamy powder and excellent riding conditions. Monday's snow has consolidated quite a bit.

No red flags. Just tracks. Everywhere.
Comments

The new snow has consolidated over the last few days and is much more cohesive now than when it was falling on Monday. When doing hand shear tests, it is possible to get some very poor quality shears which don't feel very threatening, but nonetheless are a big change from Monday when your hand would just run right through the loose new snow. So there is definitely more of a slab in the new snow after 3 days of sun and warm temps. However, the bonding is keeping pace with the slab formation, and in ECT test, the column disintegrates before any failures occur. Corroborating this data are the myriad snowmobile tracks on every steep slope in sight with no resulting avalanche activity. With the exception of daytime heating-related hazard on sunny slopes, conditions are green light in Midway.
