I did not choose an avalanche problem because it seems the snow is mostly stable right now because it's been over a week since significant loading and the snowpack is very relaxed with the persistent slabs mostly dormant.
The snow deeper than about 50 cm has basal depth hoar that is most and gaining strength wherever I dug but in the areas with snowpack deeper than about 50 cm, the basal depth hoar is dry and continues to be weak.
The surface snow is faceting strongly in all the shady slopes. This loud powder rides pretty nice but with the next snow or wind, the slabs slide on the surface layers before they have the chance to step down into the basal depth hoar. But if they do, we will see a big difference between the shallow and the deep snowpack areas.
Right now we don't see any weather patterns that will give us significant loading in the next week or so, with the exception of some possible wind with the next, splitting storm for the weekend.
