Snow Characteristics Comments

The new snow had just enough body to keep you of the bottom if you skied slopes that were not too steep. New snow seemed well bonded in the Monitors.

Comments

The 4 inches of new snow was enough to improve riding conditions on the N end of the compass if the slope angle was not too steep, the south facing had a stout melt freeze crust that the new snow could not hide, or improve much. Skied West Monitor first, skied pretty well but did do a little bottom feeding in the steeper terrain. South Monitor was next, like West Monitor it also had not been skied. South Monitor has a lower slope angle that West Monitor and skied much better with little or no bottom feeding noted. No instabilities noted in todays travels. No real need to dig a pit, been to this terrain enough to have a good idea of the underlying snow pack structure , and not enough new load to change things. Pics, bonding of the new snow in West Monitor, low clouds rolling in as I arrived back at the top, Quiet day on the PC Ridgeline for a Saturday.
