I saw this about 5 minutes after it happened so can't say 100% on what happened but I can make an educated guess.
it appears a snowmobiler or snow biker was standing too close to the edge of the cornice, cornice broke, person fell with it, and soft slab released. Person was carried down a hundred feet or so in the slide. Not buried from what I could tell.
All that I saw was the slab from afar that peaked curiosity as I had not seen it a few min earlier, and a person hiking back up to the top of the slope in a snowmobile track. I could see another figure on top of the ridge right where the cornice broke.
there were sled tracks entering and exiting the slab but my guess is that they were there before the slide happened.
I didn't see a machine in the debris so I assumed the person stepped away from their machine and got too close to the edge of the cornice and fell with it.
would be interesting to see if the party involved reports this slide with any other detail.
