Here's the leftover snowcover on Ben Lomond from the Oct 17-18th storm. Photographed 10/23. I got a decent view of this terrain late Sunday 10/27 and snow coverage looked a little less but very similar.
Snow could be found as low as 8100’ in the shade. Snow seemed to hold only on steep NE and N slopes, the slopes that are truly shaded nearly all of the time due to the late Oct low sun angle.
Deepest I found was 3-4” of dense snow. Some snow was wet and I was able to make a slush ball.
The Bailey springs slope (NE 8500’) shows the stark difference a little change in aspect can make.
