What a difference a day makes! We wanted to check out the southern part of the range after the report from yesterday. We figured we could find some aspect that had not been hammered. We checked south and west facing areas and eventually settled on north facing trees, which skied well. On the way there though we triggered this very small slide from well over 200' away. The hairline cracking propagated over several hundred feet and grew in width to an inch or so. The cracking started at the top of the first arrow and continued past the second. The whole set up was right out of the report today and slabs sensitive to body weight have clearly formed on above tree line leeward slopes. The trick is that leeward seems to be about 2/3 of the compass, at least in this area.
