Problem #1 Comments
We dug a pit on a WNW-facing slope at 9400'. Snow depth was 120cm (48"), with about 20cm (8") of snow from this last storm. We saw full propogation on the 25th hit on our ECT on an interface 55cm (22") below the snow surface. This was the top of the "NFL" (November Facet Layer). Snow grains in the NFL appeared to be mostly 1-1.5mm facets.
We didn't experience any cracking or collapsing in our travels, and it is possible that this problem is slowly becoming stubborn. Still, I expect this layer to remain spooky for a while.

Wind Drifted Snow
Trend
Decreasing Danger
Problem #2 Comments
Skiing in Beartrap Fork we didn't experience much wind affected snow, except for on the ridge near the top of Silver Peak (~10,000'). Winds were generally calm to light out of the west today, with maybe a couple moderate gusts on the ridge. Seemed like decreasing danger for wind slabs, though that might be different for higher ridgelines and more exposed terrain.
