Snow Characteristics Comments
Snow was taking heat before I traveled up Flagstaff ridgeline around noon. The top 3 inches on south facing slopes became damp and made for some athletic skiing upon exit around 3p as the sun dipped and the legendary zipper crust formed atop of the plethora of powder snow below it. The north half of the compass was a different story, powder persisted with some consolidation since yesterday's travels in the adjacent drainage. East facing stayed preserved in the form of powder with the cold morning temps. 5 star skiing remains.
Comments
Travels today were up Flagstaff ridge, east facing Upper Days, a run on North facing Days, then out Emma #1. Kept an eye out for and leftover wind deposits along the way, testing small drifts with handsheers and some ski stomps. Things certainly settled out in the last 24+ hours and I observed no signs of instability.
Stability testers were getting after it and the snow seemed to behave itself even in the high, steep, rocky terrain.
It's still hard to believe we have such amazing coverage this easy in the season. Really fun to be out there and see everyone so fired up and skiing powder.
Skiing remains 5 Stars
