+ Land Navigation with Prival Keynote speaker, guide, and wilderness instructor Kelly Robbins to inform students on Land Navigation practices with minimal environmental impact and current land use practices. Learn the detailed off-trail maps and compass techniques used by backcountry enthusiasts world wide. Additional keynote speakers will be provided in effort to provide awareness to land travel technique specifically related to traveling in winter avalanche terrain. This course will provide visual clue to observe terrain features that traditionally cause weak snow pack structiure in the Wasatch Mountains.
November 2nd-3rd (Day 1 is a PM course: 1730-2100; Day 2 is a full day in the field: 0830-1630)
Clinic Description: With one classroom session and one in-field practice session, students will become proficient with using maps and compasses to navigate safely through the backcountry.
Gear List: Compass, First Aid Kit, Day Hiking Pack. (Snow shoes may be provided if needed)
