Snow Characteristics Comments

Good riding at monte. The road is covered enough to get up high were there is enough snow to make a couple turns. There was up to 20" in wind drifed areas.

I was surprised how well the new snow was starting to settle into the old now. Even at upper elevations on north aspects the new snow was bonding. No slab yet on weak layer to get snowpit test results. This may not ever occur with this storm because of how high and dry we are about to get. I imagine this 14" will just facet through with clear cold nights.

I was suprised how little winslab action there was up monte in the usual spots. There was a little in the saddle by the power line where snow always drifts but was unable to trigger an avalanche.

Comments

You are able to accsess high terrain on the road now. You do hit pavement off and on untill you get to the drybread turn off than the road has enough snow that you dont drag skis. I wouldnt go bang up the new sleds but it was a great way to test a rebuild from the summer.
