Snow Characteristics
Snow Characteristics Comments
A crispy start to a beautiful day. Riding conditions improved dramatically with the weekend storm that was certainly a punch, vs. pinch compared to what we have seen. We have gone from zero to hero, but are still not out of the woods with our avalanche hazard. The recent load has been enough to activate and reactivate weak layers buried in the pack, but we are still not seeing the walls fall down.
Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Comments
Northwest winds doing their work and creating fresh, sensitive drifts and conrinces on the leeward sides of ridges.
Obvious, old repeater slopes with debris and crown lines hidden under the most recent storm snow.
One of the many repeater slopes that are now filled back in, and are waiting for a trigger to roll along and kick the legs out from under them.
