Toured up to see how south facing aspects are shaping up before the next cycle. Skied better than expected and had maybe an inch of new snow from the day (went up just after 4:00pm). The steeper the terrain got the more pronounced the sun crust became but was supportive and shallower terrain had almost no crust. During my 1hr 45min out wind was calm, out of the south, and was in a cloud until the very end when it cleared but sun was close to setting so not on the slope.
The small bit of new snow was clumping together pretty well (pic 1).
Dug on a SE aspect at 9,680ft. Snow was 190cm deep and was 1F until it became 4F from 160-170cm. Snow went back to 1F and there was a freeze crust at 130cm. Column broke on ECTP13 at 170cm (pic 2) and left over remaining bed surface (pic 3).
