Weather Comments
Grab bag weather today - heavy snowfall, clearing, almost blue sky, rapid warm up, greenhousing, fog, light snowfall, rain. The temperature really shot up in the afternoon and the snow became heavy and damp. Cloud cover created a green house effect. Felt swampy for a few hours. The day ended with light snowfall and cooling temps.

Red Flags Comments
We observed a few shallow loose avalanches running short distances that likely occurred during the morning hour's high PI. These were only in the top 4-6" of snow. We are not tracking any weak layers so any instabilities are in the new snow and healing rapidly during the day. Poor visibility limited our ability to see upper-elevation terrain but there were plenty of slope testers out again today.
Comments
Felt very Sierra-y today with heavy powder snow on all aspects. Many wind-favored areas had up to 2' of snow from the past couple of storms. Breaking trail was a chore once it greenhoused. We observed a "capping" of dryer snow as the top few inches became heavy and the snow just under, stayed somewhat dry.
photo 1 - shallow loose "avalanche" that occurred during the high PI this morning.
photo 2 - poor visibility due to steamy-type fog
