Kinda tricky conditions already, even before the storm. The wind event of earlier this week created some slabby snow....in places, and then there's been the fairly intense sun and the warm temps that are maybe solidifying those slabs and also giving me pause on lower-elevation and/or sunny aspects. The wind picked back up yesterday as I was on Chicken Shit ridge blowing there from the south, thereby loading up Days Draw, which tho hammered with tracks, was getting filled in by snow from the ridge; filled in enough to actually load up? I don't know, but the ridge skin track was being lost each time, and from what I can tell that was before the winds really started to crank. We've had a fair bit of wind with storms this weekend, but - as the NWS said - this upcoming storm is anomalous with high winds and long term. Sometimes wind can be our friend and pound snow into place, but "anomalous" always makes me nervous so I'll be treading carefully as well as bundling up.
