Snow Characteristics Comments
The cold and clear night helped dry out the snow which made for great riding conditions. Unfortunately, this also caused surface hoar to form on the N facing slope we skied.
Comments
We found excellent powder riding on N facing terrain up Dry Canyon. We observed surface hoar formation on the flat meadows as well as on the N facing slopes we skied which has me worried for our upcoming storm. It was moderately windy the whole time we were out there, mainly coming from the SW. The surface hoar and snow falling from trees was being blown around by the wind so much so that our skin track filled in in some select areas between our runs. Other than that, we did not see any substantial wind loading or experience any wind slabs. I ski cut a few convex rollovers near the top of the ridge with no reactivity.
