Blue skies and no wind.
First observation was the superficial refreeze at the trail head. Snow characteristics was a mixed bag from Melt Freeze, breakable crusts, sun crust, dry powder, and damp snow. Travel was easy today, damp snow made hardened skin track manageable. Found cold dry snow above 8800 feet in sheltered locations. East aspects heading into Alexander were damp by the time I dropped in around 11:30. I rode a old bed surface that avalanched last week, and had no signs of instability in my tour today. ofcouse the stand out was the big avalanche yesterday on Gobblers. Some of the locations are trending in a good direction, I think the warmth is helping...
