Comments
My partner and I stopped in an open shallow meadow on the W/SW facing corner of the bowl that is on the West side of Peak 10009. We dug a pit at 9700 ft, W (260) aspect and performed a column test that resulted in a CTX. The snowpack was 195cm deep, which seemed much deeper than some of the surrounding areas. The snow structure felt good, and quite strong until we hit what we assumed was the December PWL at approximately 80cm above ground. We did not dig to the ground so we are not certain on the total thickness of the weak layer. On the ride down we noticed that the low elevation southies were beginning to crunch up.
