Comments
Today while riding the trail I took the opportunity to do some testing on the small berms on the edge of the road. Everyone I went on failed showing cracking, collapsing, and sluffing. When at upper elevation (around 9500ft) I dug a test pit on a north facing slope. I was able to get the pit dug and found nearly half the snow pack to be very loose, faceted snow. When attempting to isolate the column the entire column failed halfway through the faceted layer. It collapsed and shifted, only requiring minimal energy to tip the column off in one large deep slab. The snow structure is incredibly unstable currently and don't see it healing anytime soon.
