Snow Characteristics Comments
Hero snow with 10cm of big loose feathers and sugar on top of a very thin base. Crust 10cm down was always supportable on turns except when over some lower elevation (around 9,000') barely covered east-facing sage. Partner and I both felt multiple collapses on 9,000' east-facing low angle while skinning. Boot penetration to the ground during transitions. Alas, the ground was not too far down there. Mostly 40cm to 45cm total depth all day. Below the crust, complete unconsolidated sugar. Skied East, Northeast and North shots, all worthwhile. Dreamy turns now, nightmare weak layer after some more snow.
