Comments
Mill D powder park - mid elevations in BCC seem to have the same setup that lots of folks have been reporting from the upper canyons, just half the depth.
Photo #1 was N facing around 9000' - total snow depth 15" or so - new snow on top 6-8" sitting on a pretty soft crust - below that a few inches of very faceted weak snow - bottom 2" at the ground was pretty firm but also damp.
photo #2 was W facing at 8700' - less snow only 10" or so - 6-8" of fresh with rock hard crust below, assuming this received more sun the past couple days - weak faceted snow below the crust and the same inch or two of damp icy snow on the ground.
was not able to get any kind of action in an ECT, no slab on top - yet. New snow did shear pretty clean right off the crust in both pits when pulling on it with the shovel.
high price of admission to get in but really good skiing where you could find a base! Cabin road was already melting out at 1pm
