Snow Characteristics
Snow Characteristics Comments
Welcome to spring! Even on 30+ degree straight north facing the sun was directly on the snow. Despite that, wonderful light recrystalized on north facing, especially mid-elevation and in the pines. Mix of breakable sun crust and wind crust on the highest north-facing ridge at 9,480'. Two or three turns below the ridge and the snow was a delight. The greenhousing turned the lower north-facing trees snow a bit damp by about 2:30 P.M. Exited on west-facing and anything not in dense pines had a sun crust. Curious to see how tomorrow's new snow bonds to the crusts.
Photo shows north-facing recrystalized, which was still easy to spray at 2 P.M. and really a treat to ski.
