Comments
I got up high today and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the snow up high. The cold temps have preserved the snow and our clear overnight skies have also produced some surface hoar. I discovered several manageable slides that appeared to have run during the last storm cycle. There is quite a bit of evidence of persistent NW winds however the wind loaded snow was mostly creamy rather than setup hard. Although it was in the teens all day over 10k, south facing terrain received plenty of sun to make the snow wet. South facing terrain will be hard tomorrow. Down lower around 8000 ft you can feel a quick transition to the rain layer which is now setup thanks to the cold winter air we’ve had since the last storm exited.
