Went up above Ponderosa campground. Have looked at that in years past but never been able to ski it due to coverage but can this year! Super cold out, scattered clouds, winds were non existent when i was there from 7-9am. Dug a small surface pit near 8000ft on a EES aspect. HS ~115. 30cm of new snow, I was surprised to see that much at the elevation and location but Craig dont lie! Uintas got a good boost from this recent storm. A pretty hard 5cm sun crust below the new snow which hasnt really developed into a cohesive slab yet. Below the sun crust for as far as i looked (down to about 50cm) was crud - 4 finger hard. A not so true ECT was ECT-N 26. Took some good wacks to get a break through the hard sun crust. Skiing on the open slope was excellent. Will be interesting to see how much wind and new snow comes with today's storm.
