Problem #1 Comments
On NW aspect NTL, we observed about 130cm of snow. The weakest snow was in the bottom 10cm and contained 4F DH/FC. This layer did not fail (ECTX), and 2 PSTs were : PST(80/100) End down 120 cm.
There seemed to be a weak layer of buried NSFs about 30cm down, but didn't suggest propagation potential (ECTN 12).
DH at the base was showing signs of rounding and being compressed by the overlying snow.
Comments
Two laps on General Norieag's back side revealed good ski quality. We noted a thin graupel layer about 8cm down near a dust layer. Could be a good marker bed for later in the season.
The pwl problem we almost always deal with is rather strong, with test results suggesting it would difficult to trigger an avalanche today. This could change as you wrap around to a more shady aspect.
We enjoyed fast snow on low angle terrain, and skied one steeper pitch at lower elevation. This snow was more punchy and probably had a weaker, possibly more reactive pwl.
