Skied the Mountaineer's Couloir on Hayden this afternoon. The couloir itself was almost entirely on a supportable crust with 4-6" of poorly bonded facets on top, made for nice turns. I kicked off one heavy sluff that let out a nice whooph when it went. It entrained a minor amount of snow and ran somewhat fast on the crust for about 200'. Otherwise an uneventful climb and descent. Coverage is much better than it appears from afar as I barely clipped anything. The apron is mostly powder, and the coverage in the forest is also better than expected. It's possible to drive to Trial Lake, for now. Snow was falling heavily at 4pm at 9k and winds were picking up so tomorrow might be a little touchier.
