Comments
Went for a hike before the arrival of the storm to see what we could see. This is Ben Lomond from the east, looking across the Cutler Ridge. The headwall is holding snow, but you can see that it's really only the N/NE aspects holding snow; even the east facing slope above the saddle up the summit pyramid is dry.
This photo is Ben Lomond from the northeast, taken atop Dead Tree. The headwall still harbors snow, especially in the drainages. Only 3-4" of snow on Dead Tree (ca. 8000ft), all of it facets. Unfortunately, we didn't quite make it up in time to get there before the clouds began to settle in on the summit.
This is the Willard side of the headwall (summit also shrouded in cloud) taken from the south. The S facing terrain is dry, though there is still a bit of snow in the E facing terrain ca. 9000ft and higher.
Looking at the saddle from the north (Dead Tree). The bits of grass poking through making me fairly sure there's not much more than 4-6" of snow up to 8500ft or so.
