Problem #1 Comments
Variable conditions, Wind swept and firm out of the tress and sun baked on the bottom half of the compass. Wind loading was observed with audible hollow sounding snowpack at 10540ft just north and above the upper Eagle Point BC gate. Few soft turns were found in the sun and wind protected trees. Snow pit was dug at 10250ft on West facing 20degreee slope. A noticeable collapse was observed while digging the pit prior to performing ECT so the ECT stability results maybe inflated because of the release of energy prior to test. We were able to get the Column to release ECTP 30@35. Rutschblock test to close the pit with results of RB4@70cm. With 6 inches forecasted for the area on Thursday March 4th there will be multiple factors to consider if touring the area this weekend. (New storm snow to firm layer interface, Wind slabs, PWL at 35cm)
