Persistent Weak Layer
Problem #1 Comments
Still there and reactive to the loads above once you bite it, ECTP21 on a 24 degree slope at 8400', clean cut across the bottom on the facets, not all but some grains like where the slab broke at the PWL were rather large. 2 taps prior to full prop at the main layer of concern there was a small collapse at the layer in a pic I'll show of the pit, assuming its the old interface from the break in the recent storm before the last of the load? Take what you can from that I guess, my gut still tells me to avoid anything steep and involving the word north.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
New Snow
Problem #2 Comments
New snow is skiing great in the right places, but combined with the PWL it's just adding to the slab above, which may be taking some effort to trigger in a pit but give yourself to much pitch on the wrong aspect and you might just trigger it, can only hope it gets buried more but don't have high expectations of a green light soon regardless. Total depths in mill d around PP3 were 105-115cm in sheltered areas, PWL buried about 70-80cm down below all that.
Comments
Went out to see how much crust some aspects developed yesterday and how the new load was reacting. Got no red flags today, didn't seem like the wind had hammered much around there so I never felt a collapse or even found a slab, but again the areas heavily trafficked but also kept elevation and angles low. Still be aware of underground hazards even in the deeper aspects.
