Comments
We went hunting for instabilities in the layers of new snow that have caused avalanches in the last 5 days or so. We couldn't find them. Many of them have bonded and compressed and settled. There are likely a few instabilities lurking still, but it should be getting harder to avalanches on these layers. In our snowpit, there wasn't a single layer that would fracture under the shovel in an ECT much less propagate, thus the score is ECTX which means nothing would break...a good sign.
There was a slight ice crust on many aspects from sunshine on Friday. There is now about 2-3 inches of new snow on top of this crust except on northerly facing slopes.
Video
Photo below, was a SE facing slope at 9,500' in elevation. Thin sun crust from Friday's blue bird day with roughly 2-3" of new snow on top. ECTX and no issues on this aspect.
