Comments
The new snow from last night and today is on the heavier side of the spectrum and experienced rapid warming at the end of the day today. I dug a pit on an exposed WNW aspect at 11200' that showed a total snow depth of 160cm and two significant density changes. My compression test showed ct1 at 140 at the new snow old snow interface and ct9 at 125 at the transition between last week's snow and a crust of some kind. The rest of the snow below 100cm to the ground is composed of 1-2mm rounding facets. I did not experience any serious signs of insatiability on my tour today and I can testify to the fact that the snow in sheltered locations is supportable and deep making for great turns. That being said I did observe small point releases on some steep north-facing aspects and one large crown on a steep north-facing slope in Gold Basin.
