Comments
Travel today was up from the Alta Guard with entry into Cardiff through the N facing Keyhole, up Cardiac Ridge and into the Room of Doom in Mineral. While hiking up to Cardiff Pass around 10am the greenhouseing was pretty intense with thin clouds, intense sun, and moist air. All of the S facing terrain was damp before I hit the pass. The N facing entry into Cardiff was still dry with a breakable crust under it, the new snow was sluffing in the steeper terrain. Hiking up Cardiac Ridge was a lesson to carry plenty of skin wax this time of year. By the time I hit the Room of Doom visibility had dropped to zero and it was skiing by brail to the bottom of the drainage. Most of the wet activity was minor do to limited new snow. I did kick off a few long running sluffs in the top entry of the Room of Doom they were running on a icy bed surface in the NW facing steeper terrain. Also noted rapid growth of the glide crack on the main line off Cardiac Ridge.
