Comments
Went to No Name Bowl in hopes that the E-SE winds from yesterday morning, did not get a hold of the surface snow in the mid elevation protected N facing bowl. There was some wind damage but mostly on the right side of the bowl. The E facing part of the bowl had very little wind damage. The main activity noted was long running sluffs entraining a good amount of snow in steeper terrain. The E facing part of the bowl is basically a facet farm with last weeks new snow resting on a couple of feet of faceted snow on dirt, probably the deepest pile of facets I’ve seen in a while. We dug a pit on the E facing on a 36 degree slope, there’s not much structure to the snowpack, basically a few feet of faceted snow with a couple layers of decomposing crusts. Pretty sure that this slope will not hold much weight of it gets a load.
Photos: sluffs we triggered while skiing or from the ridge line, snow pit with the decomposing crusts isolated.
