Went to Cardiac Bowl to see what was going on on shady due N at just below 11,000ft, I was hopping that the crusts were faceting out and disappearing but I was disappointed in what I saw. The crust facet double decker sandwich in the starting zone is a ugly base layer, large grain facets at the bottom, fairly stout crust, more large grain facets, another crust that’s not as stout but supportable on skis and not looking to be going away then finally small grain facets on top to make travel extra slippery. If these crust don’t facet out the slope will be able to hold more weight thus creating tricky avalanche conditions when we get a new load, the crust will also have the ability to make avalanches larger and more connected when a decent storm is added. South facing is basically dirt right now and tennis shoes were required. Photos: hasty pit showing the crust facet sandwich and the location of the pit at the starting point of the tracks
