Got out this afternoon in the vicinity of Pleasant Creek. Traveled on west through northeast facing slopes from 7000 ft to 10000 feet in elevation. West facing slopes were wet at 4:00 pm and I would expect the same on south facing but northwest through northeast was about 8-10 inches of medium density powder over an icy bed surface. The main red flag we observed was wind loading. We mainly traveled on north through west facing slopes which were scoured in most non-sheltered places. I would imagine there was moderate to considerable danger of triggering a wind drift on leeward aspects. We kept slope angles below 35 degrees and stuck to mainly sheltered areas and found some of the best conditions of the year. I would definitely get out early tomorrow to enjoy the powder before it gets wet and avalanche danger rises.
