Snow Characteristics Comments

Still some dry snow on north aspects. Lower elevations had a zipper crust from yesterdays warm temps. The lower part of the Chalk Creek Road was frozen tire tracks for a Mr. Toads wild ride exit. Some damp snow on my exit.

Some surface hoar this morning (photo below), this formed overnight.

Comments

Not very exciting, 14" of settled snow sitting on the ground. There was some drifting in this area.

Photos below:

1. Surface hoar.

2. The elk are moving to the valley, looking down off the Chalk Creek Road, these tracks were not here yesterday.

3. Looking north from the snow profile area. South facing terrain.

4. North and north west facing terrain from the snow profile,

5. Upper Horse Hollow, this area was filled in and skiable this time last year.

Waiting game for more snow. If someone was to venture to the upper elevation north aspects, I would guess a moderate hazard.

I would like to thank the local elk for their trail breaking assistance in this area.

Merry Xmas to all! Someone needs to remind Santa that I have been very good and would like a huge snow storm for Xmas!
